I must admit it kind of threw me. It was the first mean-spirited comment that I received on my Facebook page. I was already off my game due to my husband’s trip and the fact that April is already a hard month for me (I’ll write about that later this month).
I deleted the comment but, looking back, I wish I would have just responded and left it there for all to see. Instead, I let it intimidate me and keep me from writing for a few weeks.
The person who wrote it knows who I am but she doesn’t know me. Does that make sense? I think I’ve seen her five times in the past 30 years and have never spoken to her on the phone, through email, or on Facebook. She ended her comment with, “so you’re not the only one who’s sick, Kim.”
I know!
That’s the whole purpose of my blog. I know I’m not the only one that’s sick. I want YOU to know that you’re not the only one that’s sick either.
You’re not alone in your battle with #chronicillness.
This blog is a place where you can come and feel understood, accepted, and part of a community. It may be a community none of us want to be part of but it’s the community we need so we know we’re not alone.
I want to be able to share with you and connect you to people and resources that help you live the best life possible despite your illness.
I want you to be able to thrive instead of just survive. #chronicillness #invisibleillnessClearly, I know I’m not the only one with a chronic illness. But I also know that hearing others have the same struggles as you can help. And hearing tips from others can help you see the possibilities and hope available to you.
So despite the negativity, I’ll continue to run this blog. I’ll do my best to offer information that can help you and offer a listening ear and compassionate heart to your struggles.
We need to support each other. We have enough of a fight against a world that may not understand or believe what is going on in our bodies. The fight cannot be against each other!
If you haven’t clicked over to my Facebook page I would like to encourage you to do so. I’m going to be doing more interacting of the day-to-day over there. You’ll also find links to other posts and writers that offer great information.
Thank you all for the support and encouragement you give to me through your comments, likes, and shares. We’re all in this together and together we can lift each other up and find strength in our unity!
